Why Black male youth?

Young Black men face daunting odds. Data has shown that they complete high school at significantly lower rates than their white peers and have much higher chronic absenteeism.

It’s clear that students of color are not receiving the support they need to succeed. Our education system needs to change. And to make effective change, we MUST center youth in the decision-making process.

Our vision for the future is one where all students have the opportunities they need for success, and no young person is left behind.

Our vision, goals and work are all rooted in data.

National data shows that a key indicator to successful high school completion is a student’s experience in 9th grade. This is one of many reasons why the gaps we see in 9th grade outcomes are so concerning.
